So I sold my RV in February 2010 and moved to San Francisco, CA. The apartment is a converted 1908 hotel room with attached bathroom and kitchen-in-a-closet. It's close to four bus lines and I have a view of the Mexican Salvadoran restaurant across the street, a travel agency and a laundromat. A block to the west is Polk Street which used to be a happening place called Polk Gulch. A block to the south is the Tenderloin and all its denizens. I'm very happy to be here and to have my medical problems taken care of by the great doctors at Kaiser.
Tomorrow I will have surgery to remove a rather large tumor from the back of my left hip. The surgeon says it's on my left buttock but hey--it's my body and I can say where it's located. There is another surgeon who will be removing a cyst from my left ovary and perhaps both ovaries if she can reach them without much hassle. Otherwise, I'll have two separate surgeries.
ReplyDeleteThe other good news is my Social Security Disability hearing will be at 8:30 am on January 23, 2012, two years after I first filed and have had my appeals turned down twice. Finally! I have lymphedema in both legs, osteoarthritis in both knees, osteoporosis, diverticulosis, a tumor on my left hip, a cyst on my left ovary, a pinched ulnar nerve in my left arm making half my hand and wrist numb, tendonitis in both shoulders, and a seizure disorder. You would think that would be enough to qualify me as disabled but--not yet.
ReplyDeleteI start 6-7 weeks of radiation next week (Monday through Friday minus holidays) after the tumor removal. On November 10, I had pulmonary emboli in both lungs for which I take Coumadin, a blood thinner, for six months.
ReplyDeleteI won my case and will have disability payments starting March 14th and on the second Wednesday of every month. Now I can breathe a little easier.
ReplyDeleteHalfway through radiation and I'm able to handle the side effects of diarrhea and fatigue. There is some blistering on the other side of the radiation area but it's not too bad. The aloe vera gel works great.
My home situation has stabilized and I won't be moving until I can find an affordable senior apartment. The waiting lists are long, however.
